Although The Southern Companion is a new name to most people, the band’s collective CV is long and varied. Their sound, described as “a Mid-Atlantic sonic whirlpool where the US&UK currents meet,” carries with it the weight of extensive touring and studio experience gained through years as session players for a wide range of artists such as James Morrison, Lulu, Pete Townsend (The Who) and Tom Jones. In 2015 Darren (singer/songwriter) toured the UK and Europe as the support act and guitarist for Rumer, including a career highlight opening at The City Winery in Nashville to a “roof raising” reception. Also in 2015 the band stormed the CM&T International Artist chart with the single “Drive” peaking at Number 3 twice! 2016 is looking to be the bands best year so far with a UK tour supporting Lulu and festival appearances including Europe’s biggest Country Festival Country 2 Country at the O2 in London. The Southern Companion recently picked up 2 British Country Music Association Awards in October 2016.
